In this final screen capture, we see the gang through a open fence with a rollercoaster in the background.  There is also a solid fence around the base.  Dating the photo, there could only be two possibilities, the Cyclone or the Thunderbolt.  I don’t remember The Thunderbolt having a solid fence at its base, like the Cyclone does.  If this was the Boardwalk side of the Thunderbolt, we should be able to make out the old Kensington Hotel.  If this was the side closer to Surf Ave, we should be able to see the sign saying Thunderbolt, but we don’t, so lets assume it’s the Cyclone.

These photos were taken from the Surf Ave side of the Cyclone.  The photo on the left is my best guess of where the scene could have been shot in the movie.  The photo on the right was taken to the right of the other photo so I could capture the Cyclone sign better.  You see the solid fence at the base of the Cyclone which matches the fence seen in the movie, but we should also see the Cyclone sign, so this tells on no.

This is a photo of the Cyclone from the Boardwalk side, taken across the street from Astroland.  The superstructure looks very similar.  We have the sold fence at the base.  The chain link fence that we see the gang about to enter could be the fence surrounding Astroland.  Since it was closed today, I couldn’t take a photo with that.  I still have problems. In the Warriors photo, we see flagpoles at the top of the curves, missing in present day photo.  In the present day photo, we see a utility pole, which is missing in the Warriors screen shot.

Hope you enjoyed my little photo essay

****** Since I did this site, I found a old site I had with some old photos I had of the Thunderbolt

www.the-shermans.us/coneyisland/thunderbolt

that is the thunderbolt we see, missing in the photo must be the Kensington.  Notice the top of the curves in both photos, they are one and the same.  The Warrior photo must be the Boardwalk side, since if it was the Surf Ave side, we would see the marquee name Thunderbolt.
