Trip home
September 24-25, 2023
My friend
Virginia has graciously picking me up from my resort and driving me back to the
train station. She was staying on
property last night with her children at another resort. After checking out there, she will pick me up
at BLT.
I pack up
the owners locker to now include the Mickey Mouse Crocs. Call to have it picked up by bell
services. I throw all my things in the
three pieces of luggage, packpack, roll bag, and my
luggage piece.
I bring my scooter down to bell services, leave it outside and leave the key by
bell services.
I look around the room one last time to make sure I don’t forget anything. Even look in all the draws to make sure I
didn’t stick anything in them and forgot.
Good bye jet
tub where I can sit in and watch TV.
Good by
shower stall. Enjoyed the luxury of
having that besides a bathtub.

living room, dining room area. Ive stayed in other rooms where the room was smaller then this area.

room 7434. First time staying in a 1
bedroom, it wont be the last.
Virginia and
Alan are soon pulling into the driveway by the resort and we are on our way to
the Orlando Amtrak Train station. Pretty
soon we are waiting inside the station for the Silver Meteor to take me north
to New York Penn Station.
I board the
train, just arriving a couple of minutes later.
Home for the next 23 hours.
After a
short wait at Orlando, we are on the movie, first stop is Winter Park.
It just
seemed so recently that I was excited leaving Winter Park because the next stop
would be Orlando. But now I am heading
north back home.
Lunch time
on the Silver Meteor. Of course the cheese
burger with potato chips for lunch.
Dessert is
always good onboard the train.
Not much
else to do now.. except relax on the train back to new York. Waiting for dinner.

Pulling into
NY Penn station
After
Richmond Virginia (RVR), we just drop passengers off, don’t pick up new ones,
so as soon as people get off, we move, so we pick up time.
I head to the lounge for one last
meal on Amtrak.
Its raining
outside. I make the call to Lyft for a
pickup. I tell him I am at 31 street
waiting. I think he is at 30th
street, because he calls me saying he is outside waiting for me. After a couple of minutes I see him pulling
up, and we are driving to Brooklyn.
I don’t understand, this driver seems to make the trip home longer by taking
the streets over the parkway?? But he
finally gets me home. I don’t like some
things, but tip him normally.
I guess it
is better then taking the subway home from Manhattan
by myself with luggage.
Be it ever
so humble.. there is no place like home.
