Day 5

September 12, 2012

Wow, on Day 5, spending my first whole day at Epcot.  Have breakfast at Captains Grille.  To get there, will take the bus to the studios and take the path back to the Beach Club.

Nice day

When I rented the scooter, they had a deal, for the price of either insurance or canopy, you get both.  When I received the scooter, I removed the canopy, but today I put it back on, to help protect from the sun and to keep the seat and me dry during a rain event.  It doesn’t look like rain today, but you never know.

I got the buffet option again at Captains Grille.  They did have a steak and quiche dish, but not into quiche.  Just had about two plates, and that was that.

After eating breakfast at Captains Grille, I entered Epcot via International Gateway

and went to do Mission Space, green version of course.

After Mission Space, I head over to Universe of Energy. I am allowed to enter, as they just close it off after I entered.  The pre-show is mostly over, as we are lining up to go to the ride vehicles.

After Universe of Energy I stop to get a ice cream float at Fountain View Ice Cream shop.  While sitting outside, I feel some spray from the fountain next to me, but the spray turns into a steady downpour.  While others are taking refuge under overhangs, I put on my rain poncho and head out to the open rain.

I head to Soarin, and even with the GAC card, I still have a 10 minute wait.  The Land is full of people taking refuge from the rain.  I board the ride and there is a person of foreign decent (not speaking English to his family) with his camcorder out, ready to video Soarin.  But of course you shouldn’t, so I tell the CM the gentleman has his camcorder in his hand, on pause.  The CM reaffirms to the gentleman that you can’t video the attraction.  The CM tells me, to keep an eye on him.  For sure enough, as soon as we are lifted up to the screen, he takes the camcorder out and starts to video the attraction.  I tell him no, and he puts it away.

Heading to Le Cellier for lunch next.

I just check in, no smart alec jokes like first asking for a walk in, then when they say no, tell them glad I have a adr.. haha J

I start off with some Chedder Cheese Soup

Entrée…. Need to ask?? J

and for dessert….

After lunch at Le Cellier I head over to  the American Adventure. When I enter the building, I am brought up to the second floor to be allowed into the theater.  I watch from the second floor the performance on the main floor.

I leave my scooter in the back row, but sit about two rows from the stage.  Towards the end of the show, I start to think my scooter will be in the way of other guests trying to leave, so when the show is near the end, I sneak to the back and get on my scooter just as the show is over.

I then plan to go on Maelstrom next.  As I am riding around World Showcase Lagoon heading towards Norway, I was stopped when they raised the bridge by China. I had a front row seat watching them bring in globe and fireworks barge. I would have liked to see the inferno barge close up, but probably too dangerous to do so while guests are so close??  Here are some photos of them raising the bridge.

And here is a video of the Globe going by.

And here is the video of a couple of fireworks barges going by next.

When entering Maelstrom handicap line, I am holder of the pass.  I am handed a magnetic swipe card that I hand in when I board the ride.  This helps them determine the wait time.  I joke with the CM’s, ask them if I can hand this in tomorrow, as I know what it is.  They laugh.  The wait time is nothing, I drive all the way to the boarding area.  Here is the video from Maelstrom

After Maelstrom, I go on Mexico Boat ride. Here is that video.

I then went and I had dinner at Coral Reef.  Starting off with rock shrimp

entrée.. need I say what it is?? J

And for dessert their classic chocolate lava cake

Leaving Coral Reef, I saw a ecv towing another ecv :) must be for Disney rented scooters that broke down in the park?

My plan was to leave the park after dinner, but I am having second thoughts. It is evening emh here tonight, and less then two hours to go before illuminations.

Still thinking about going to bed early, perhaps a trip to dtd, and a swim at the resort after. Not sure what I am doing except heading to Captain EO now.

Captain EO is pretty empty, I enter just in time for the start of the preshow.  I am in the back of the theater for the main show.  Its cute.  Reminds me of the Borg of Star Trek fame.

After Captain EO, still not feeling great, but ok.  So after some thinking, I decide to leave the park, head back to my resort.  I figure I will see Illuminations later in the week.
