Day 8

Today I am heading to Typhoon Lagoon.  My reserved Fastpass pluses have me at the studios.  So much for those.  Its been over a dozen years since I was here last.  I pack up the same items I carried to Blizzard Beach the other day.  Cell phone in a waterproof pouch and new waterproof camera.  T-shirt of the day is one that says New York City 2005, and has a image of Mickey Mouse.  Bought back then from the now closed World of Disney store on 5th Ave.

I wanted to get a bite to eat at Pop Century food court, but I waited too long as it was after 9 am and the place was packed. So much for breakfast.  I will get a early lunch at Typhoon Lagoon.  I only have a ADR at Yak-n-Yeti in Animal Kingdom.

waiting for the bus

I get a locker, place my stuff away and head towards the wave pool.  Took some photos while walking around to the wave pool.

When they send out the serious waves, they blow a horn first, followed by people screaming.  Even though I was far away, when the wave hit me, it hit me with enough force to spin me around.  Every so often, people hit me too.

Here I am getting knocked down a couple of times.

Then I used Instagram to do some live video to Facebook and Twitter.  Sadly, I held it sideways, so here is the video with the right side up.

I also take a loop around the lazy river.

And here is a short video I took while I was on the lazy river.  I was using my smartphone to take this video. I didn’t know I had my finger in the way.

After the lazy river, I get something to eat, a early lunch.  I get a cheeseburger meal.  First problem is they don’t supply lids for the soda cup, as they person at the counter service place said they didn’t use lids as they clog up the water filters.  Nothing I can do except remember the first day here when I gave my hand a soda bath trying to carry it to a table.

The seating area I am in, there is only another person trying to eat here.  She was getting freaked out when birds were dive bombing her tray for French fries.  As soon as they held one in their mouth, they flew away.  I held my ground J

After eating I went back to the wave pool.  Mild waves.  Here we have Miss Tilly on Mount Mayday announcing its noon.

A horn blowing signals a large wave is coming, which makes people start screaming.  I stand sideways when the wave hits me, but still I get turned around.  Here is some video of more waves hitting me.

After having enough, I go to change and get my $5 back.  Since I got a mug for Blizzard Beach, figure to get a matching one for Typhoon Lagoon.  The person at the register had the $5 in their hand when I asked about the mug.  She was surprised I wanted the mug, but gave me the mug and placed the $5 back in the register.

I am back on the bus back to Pop Century.  Get my usual assortment of cameras and head to my second park of the day,  Animal Kingdom.

Once at Animal Kingdom, I am too early for my ADR.  I try to roam around a bit,

till I just give up and ask if its ok to be seated early.  They say sure, doesn’t look crowded at all.  After waiting a couple of minutes, I am seated.

I will be using dining credits to pay for the meal. Years past, since they are not Disney owned or operated, they hold onto my key to the world card while eating.  This year they seem to do what other places do.  Once seated, they scan my Magic Band card, I enter my PIN.  She looks at the readout and tells me they show zero credits left.  I am stunned.  Last night at ‘Ohana, I had two.  I didn’t know what to do, I explained that I should have two left.  She suggested to pay for the meal and straighten this out later.  On the key to the world card, there is a phone number.  I told her to give me a couple of minutes, that I would call to have this matter fixed.

I called the number on the card, gave them my room number, and she looked at my account.  I told her I had two credits as of last night, that I haven’t used any dining credits since.  She looks at my account and goes hummmm.. she sees my meal from last night, including the tip I left, but she also sees a additional two meals paid too.  I tell her, that is a mistake, see how much of a tip I left, I ate solo, not with two others.  This is the second time I had a table service meal credit problem.  She fixes it, tells me to tell the server, give her 30 seconds to try the scan, I should have the two credits restored.  The server returns, I tell her that the error should be fixed.

I have a good meal, I get the fried battered shrimp on a stick, skirt steak wrapped around white rice.

And for dessert, what I dream about, cheese wontons with vanilla Ice Cream.

After eating, and the server good naturedly assuring me she only charger me a single credit, I am on my way to the third park of the day, Disney Hollywood Studios.  I can go directly as there is a dedicated bus for the studios from Animal Kingdom.

At the studios I do Toy Story,

then head over to Muppetivsion.  It starts to rain before entering the theater.

After Muppetvision 3D, I go and shop for things to nosh on at the Writers Shop.

Call me crazy, but I leave the studios and ride over to Epcot, 4th park of the day.  I basically just watch Illuminations again.  Hopefully no flaming debris this time ;)  Here is my video for Illuminations using my new waterproof camera, just to see how it works.

The only event to report about after this is waiting for a bus, some idiot who probably drank too much at dinner, tried to get people to sing a Christmas song while in the line.  Then he notices my NY Yankee hat and starts chanting ‘Lets go Red Sox’  I just ignore him.  I am glad that I won’t be on the same bus as him.  While he was behind me on the line, There are ECV’s ahead of me, so I will be waiting for the next one.

Finally board a bus and make it back to my resort without any further things to report.
