Monday, July 20th, Disney day 2

While my mother just had cereal for breakfast, I went to the food court to have a Bounty Breakfast and brought it back to the room to eat.  When I entered the food court, so did 40 teenage teens.  They seemed to fill up the place.  When I ordered the food, they placed it on real dishes.  When I said it was to go, they transferred it to paper plates.  They also had real metal silverware.  But I took plastic spoons and forks back to the room.

While waiting for the bus to the Magic Kingdom, I notice a bus pulling up for the studios.

But this isn’t a standard Disney theme park bus, but the type of bus you expect to take you from one city to another, not a bus that takes you one location to another in the same city.  This doesn’t look like it can handle scooters.

My first stop is City Hall in the Magic Kingdom.  Last year I had a paper card that had my DAS information.  DAS, Disable Access Service Card.  Since I cant stand or walk long distances due to my leg injuries, this allows me to use alternate entrances.  Last year I had problems getting one.  I hope not this year.  I use the ramp on the side of city hall and wait my next.  I explain what I need, I show them last years pass, they scan my Magic Band… and I am done.

First Fast pass of the day is Peter Pan.

The new thing this year is in the first room, the bedroom of the Darlings.  You see images flying around.

Next up is the Haunted Mansion again.  I like it, so I can ride it multiple times.

We did Hall of Presidents next,

 then Tiki Room,

followed by the Fast Pass for Jungle Cruise.

Leaving the Jungle Cruise I ask the skipper if he is familiar with Skipper Dan.  Years ago, Weird Al Yankovitch wrote a song about a person who studied acting winds up working as a Jungle Cruise skipper.  There is a cartoon video that goes with the song.  The name of the song is Skipper Dan.

Then we did Country Bear Jamboree.

After that, we have 90 minutes till the 3 pm Parade.  Trying to think of something to do meanwhile.

We just head to the handicap area opposite Hall of Presidents and wait out for the parade.

It starts to rain, raining heavy.

At 3:15 PM, they announce due to weather, the parade is delayed.  At least not canceled.

They finally announce the normal parade is canceled.  They will be doing a rain parade instead.  Been there, seen that.  We leave the park and head to the Polynesian for dinner at ‘Ohanna.  This is one of the planned meals to meet my brother, sister in law, niece, and her son.  Entering the Polynesian we find the rest of our family already there.  I park the scooters and plug in the chargers for both scooters.  We don’t have a long wait till we are seated.  The food is always ok here.  Nothing to write about.

After ‘Ohana, we part with the rest of our family and we head back to the resort and go for a swim at the resorts pool.  This means first taking the monorail back to the Magic Kingdom, then a bus back to the resort.

When entering the bus area, I notice a truck for Walker Mobility.  The accelerator tends to have a dead spot sometimes.  I slightly press the lever and sometimes the scooter doesn’t move.  So I convince the driver to switch out the scooter for a different one.

When we get to the main pool by our resort building, they emergency closed it.  So we walked over to the smaller pool by Cars.  Swam there for a bit, before I asked one of the lifeguards if the main pool reopened.  It did, so we walked back to the main pool to swim there.  One of the unusual things about the main pool at Art of Animation, they have music that can only be heard if you place your ears in the water, I try that, and indeed you hear the music.

While in the main pool, I see fireworks that look pretty close.  Not sure what it could be.  We are too far for it to be Wishes.  It doesn’t look like Illuminations, nor Fantasmic.  It turns out to be coming from the studios, a Frozen fireworks show.  After swimming for a bit, we head back to the room and call it a day.
